Currently – the most cited psychologist in Romania in international scientometric systems (Web of Science/ Scopus/WorldCat) and one of the most well-known psychologists in the scientific community (e.g.: president of the Romanian Psychologists Association) and in the Romanian public space (e.g.: consultant/expert for national authorities and mass media). For example, in the GoogleScholar (GS) system there are 19,205 citations, with a Hirsch index of 76 (as of 21.01.2025). Since 2019, he has been included in the top 2% of the most cited scientists in the world (in general and/or in the specialty field, point-annually and/or throughout his career) in the ELSEVIER-SCOPUS analysis.
At the national level, he structured the Cluj School of Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy, nationally representative and with international impact. In recognition of this School, in 2017, the International Association of Cognitive Psychotherapy organized its 9th International Congress in Romania.
Internationally, he was the Director of Research at the prestigious Albert Ellis Institute in New York, USA, and is an associate professor (adjunct professor) at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, New York, USA. He is also a member of the Academy of Cognitive and Behavioral Therapies, USA. He has published in leading scientific and professional journals (some Top-3) and in prestigious international publishing houses (e.g. Oxford University Press).
He has given invited lectures at top universities (e.g. Oxford University, Harvard University) and is an editor for international Web of Science/Scopus indexed journals and for book series in the specialized field, at prestigious international publishing houses (e.g. Springer – Best Practices in Cognitive-Behavioral Psychotherapy). Since 2022, he is a (corresponding) member of the Romanian Academy and the Academia Europaea.
