Cristina Ghițulică – ARACIS in the EHEA context
ARACIS organized, on 5 June 2025, the second webinar in the series of four webinars dedicated to the Bologna Process and the three key commitments essential to the functioning of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA).
The webinar addressed the topic “Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area” and explored the following issues:
- The commitments regarding quality assurance established within the Bologna Process;
- The specific roles of the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA) and the European Quality Assurance Register for Higher Education (EQAR) within the EHEA;
- The revision process of the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG);
- The international dimension of ARACIS activities.
The webinar featured presentations by Ms. Anna Gover, ENQA Director, Mr. Aleksandar Šušnjar, EQAR Director, and Prof. Dr. Eng. Daniela-Cristina Ghițulică, General Director of ARACIS, Vice-President of ENQA, and Vice-chair of the Bologna Follow-Up Group (BFUG).
The webinar was moderated by Prof. Dr. Eng. Simona Lache, member of the Institutional Evaluation and Audit Commission of ARACIS and former member of the Agency’s Council, who emphasized the importance of the contributions in broadening the perspective on the quality assurance framework and the alignment of national standards with the ESG.
Anna Gover highlighted the mission of ENQA and the role of quality assurance in the Bologna Process, the purposes and principles of the common quality assurance framework represented by the ESG, as well as the most recent developments, namely the ESG revision process and current challenges such as digitalisation, social inclusion, and cross-border education.
Aleksandar Šušnjar presented the role of EQAR, the benefits of registration of quality assurance agencies in EQAR for universities and higher education systems, as well as aspects of the DEQAR database of external quality assurance results.
Also, Prof. Dr. Eng. Daniela-Cristina Ghițulică gave a presentation on the international dimension of the agency’s activities and the role of ARACIS in this European framework, addressing topics such as stakeholder involvement, international experts, cross-border QA, and the QA of joint programs and European universities alliances.
The event was attended by representatives of Romanian higher education institutions, expert evaluators, and colleagues from other quality assurance agencies.
The webinar held on 5 June is part of a series of events organized to mark the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Romanian Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ARACIS).
